I’m loving the spin on how to first trilogy ended. I’m loving that Miss. P is finally seeing them as something more that meddlesome kids. I’m loving that we don’t lose any of what this series does well.
But I am getting a bit sick of Jacob thinking running of without telling anyone is a good idea. Surely the guy knows by now - you run away, you get hurt...Every. Single. Time. It’s time this dog learnt a new trick!
I’ll also have to say I find something lacking with the romance. In the first trilogy it felt like an important part of the story. Now it’s just a convenient side plot to connect Jacob to all the parts of the story he needs to be to keep him relevant.
I’m eager to see how to series will end. How Ransom will wrap up this section of his story and whether he’ll leave it open for expansion of the world or whether I’d move onto something else.

Now this is what I'm talking about! After the aggressively average Map of Days, this fifth book of the Miss Peregrine series sees a return to the action-packed, unpredictable storytelling we know and love. It's like a breath of fresh air, which even the characters can't take in because they don't sit down for a second in this novel. Every chapter kept me on the edge of my seat, and every twist and turn in the narrative was somehow more exciting than the last. God I love this series!
Minor: Death, Death of parent, Abandonment, Injury/Injury detail
I liked this very much but towards the ending things seemed a bit...much. No spoilers, but I felt like the kids were a bit gullible. Overall I liked the plot and the new characters. I like where the story continues to go.

Glad that the romance between Emma and Jacob is over. It felt so weird the whole time I was reading the previous books. Not sure how much of a fan I am of these cliff hangers that keep happening in the later books of the series.
at this point, the picture gimmick is pretty tired. but I like how chaotic this plot is!
