i saw some reviews saying this was predictable… maybe i’m dumb but i was shocked and intrigued at every twist — especially the ending. when i finished the book, i sat there staring at a wall just trying to come to terms with the craziness i just read. i ate it up and am on track to read the rest of this author duo’s books!

I overall enjoyed the book. It has a decent pace, I liked the twist, and it had a lot of emotions specially for this genre. I wanted more action from a thriller, it felt like the twist and main action piece from the twist was really rushed and didn’t have time to develop the way it should have. I would recommend this book to someone who loves an emotional mystery.

Fun twisty thriller, didn't see the end coming! The alternating POVs of Marissa and Avery work really well.

I always enjoy this author duo, and I was very sucked into this story. It felt weird that it was set in an area where I've spent so much time! Will read more by this pair.

I liked it. It dragged on for a little bit but I thought the plot twist was clever and I didn't see it coming.

a man turning out to be crazy and abusive
in thrillers will never surprise me.

the book is pretty good overall, though. both perspectives—client marissa and ‘consultant’ avery—are engaging. so refreshing that avery is a woman happily single with a good career.

marissa distrusts other women the whole book, while it was her own damn husband.
and at the end the women support each other. I like the subversion of the catty women stereotype here.
