Love on the Brain

⭐ 4/5 Okay, we can be frank here: Ali Hazelwood writes commercial books that are suppose to be easily enjoyable, not too difficult to understand and popular. That's not really a problem for me, a person who likes to read for entertainment.

I've read TLH in 2022 and read Bride, Love Theoretically and Love on the Brain this month. Are Ali's characters all of the same? Yes, not gonna lie to you, they're all pretty f-ing simillar. Are Ali's books enemies to lovers? Not at all. Maybe a bit of beef and distrust at the beginning but it usually lasts a few chapters and they're already getting along.

Something that annoys me: very Hollywood movie-like scenes like Bee suddenly having a EUREKA! moment - literally out of NOWHERE - and finding the solution to the problems they were facing in the project. Also the 'villain' reveal which has a bit of a “I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids!” vibe as Kat said in a review of the book here at Goodreads. And yes, I would like Ali to write characters other than 5'0 quirky girls (Misery being tall in Bride doesn't count because Lowe is still stupidly tall) and 6'4 muscled dudes. These are a few of the major problems I found in this book and why it isn't a 5-stars for me.

But it is enjoyable! I actually really liked the sex scenes, I really liked nerdy homey Levi and Bee's sense of fashion and the other characters, like Kaylee and Rocío. So if you like a light-read romance with a dude that is secretly obsessed with the main character and they end up together happily ever after, give this one a try!

I really enjoyed it.

Although the plot is really similar to The Love Hypothesis and Love, Theoretically:
Small science woman with childhood trauma and a shitty ex (who is also bad in bed) is forced by work to be around big, giant, huge science man whom she thinks hates her but actually fell in love with her at first sight. She thinks he doesn't like her, but then she realizes he does! So they have sex and then the third act drama happens! But not to worry, it is a bit too easily solved and they lived happily ever after.

and I enjoyed reading it three times.

I loved Rocio and Kaylee! Such great and fun side characters.

But, like the other two books, I wanted more happy before the end. Please, I want more or at least a longer epilogue. I don't want to say goodbye to these characters yet, especially Rocio and Kaylee.

ok OK this is more like the love hypothesis but they work at NASA and NIH. the plot is so SO similiar with tlh too with the same kind of man(no offense). yes, that bulit up big tall man. there are also so many sex scene which surprisingly i kinda uncomfortabel reading them. whats differ this book from tlh is there are so many neuroscience topics which is really interesting. after all, i enjoy reading this

Top tier novel right here! This book had me feeling everything. I laughed, I swooned, I got anxious, frustrated, and completely swept away. Honestly, it gave my little feminist heart everything it wanted. 💜 💪 💜

From sharp commentary on standardised testing and the systems that privilege certain demographics, to perfectly timed quips about men in STEM, Ali Hazelwood nailed it.

I loved the new vocab I collected:
- Wurstfest
- Cockcluster 🍆
- Meatwave 🌭

You should read this so you can expand your vocab too!

Levi puts the P in Pine! I loved it!

A funny, swoony, brainy romance that I’ll be recommending nonstop. HONESTLY, an amazing read. ✨

I am Bee. I need a Levi. Definitely could’ve used another chapter at the end, I feel like it ended to abruptly and the epilogue wasn’t enough for me.
