Don’t really understand what I read but it was quite a sad ending.
The main character turns into an insect one morning and the events of the book describe what happens after this change.
His family are scared of him and the way he looks, only his sister is willing to go to his room and try to tidy it up or give him food. After a while though even this she doesn’t want to do anymore.
Because our main character was the main source of income and the family didn’t have to work because of this, they have led a luxurious life of no work. Now that he cannot work they need to work. This turned them into a spoiled family whom at the end wanted him dead because he was so insufferable. In reality they were lazy and didn’t WANT to help him.
End discussion fuck that family and poor Gorge.

Good shit.
If you feel like the main character, please seek therapy.
If you feel like you're worthless and have to make it up to people for hanging around you, I know it's hard to accept, but no you don't.
That being said this was so visceral that it touched something deep within me. Love it.

it felt to me a moving reiteration that modifications and growth are the non linear structure of human relationships. how the entire world around you, people most closest to you, can become strangers and their very perception of you could be turned to that of a foreign contrivance when you transform/grow out of something/change from what once you have been, that some people cannot adapt alterations if not in their best favors because they're so used to the stagnant of life that even the concept of deviation can become incredulous. it's a simple story really but loaded with metaphorical meanings which one might perceive in their own way and that's what makes it so resonant and identifiable i suppose.
one thing that stood out to me was when gregor tries to explain/speak for himself and his condition to the clerk and his family but they can't understand him and it's described as him speaking unintelligibly in an animalistic voice, unlikely for anyone to fathom a word of his, the alienation of his being unnervingly discernible in that very moment, like maybe it's because i decided to read this book under harrowing circumstances and had alot on my mind already but it left an impression.
