So the was a bit different than the series. About all the leeper things. Is there any 2nd book. Because this cannot be the end of a standalone book. There are things still unanswered. Where is merlin and Morgan? What happened after Guinevere met Arthur? Is the sword safe? Where is Nimue? is she safe? is she alive? What does the leeper king want?
What is happening????
So I got the answer after thinking and reading things..
Arthur and Guinevere are together as they supposed to according to legend. Sword is with merlin. So she should protect it atleast because of his daughter.
It was a nice story...

3.5/5 (Rounded up)
A unique take/retelling of the King Arthur legend.
I feel like the ending could have been more clear-cut, less open to interpretation. It was like Nimue was almost becoming the Lady of the Lake…but then, she….didn’t? It also feels open to a sequel, but not fully open - when this is a perfectly good standalone novel.
All in all, enjoyed reading. Was a nice little story.

This one took me forever...just didn’t hold my interest very well despite the intriguing concept.
I really liked this take on the Arthur legend, it feels as epic and old as the story itself while still being something completely its own. When I first picked up the book it took me a little while to get into the story because I have been reading mainly female written fantasy this year and there are definitely notable differences in reading a story written by a man.
I love the scope of the characters and storytelling and want to learn more about so many of them. I like how the ending clearly leaves room for more stories set in this world - it was my favorite part and actually got me excited about the rest of the story because I love where it led.
The art by Frank Miller was a nice touch to the story, but I didn't always feel like it added anything. The color pages were the best part because they were easy to see and particularly stunning, especially the final one. The black and white ones were sometimes hard to see especially if they spanned two pages because things got lost in the fold of the book.
I am very interested to see the Netflix show which will be both its own thing and a slight adaptation. The show was being written at the same time as the book so it will be interesting to see the ways in which they influenced each other. I hope it at least stays faithful to the ending because like I said that really was my favorite part.

It was fine I guess. I love Lancelot and only Lancelot
I keep reading reviews that say the writing is simplistic; I think what people fail to realize is the book is young adult fiction. The writing is intended for that age group. That small factor aside I found the book very enjoyable (and the book and tv show if you’ve seen it we’re very true to one another, if you’ve seen it). I think the author did a great job of re-inventing The Lady of the Lake story and this will hopefully get more young people interested in Arthurian legend.
Absolutely no depth of character or plot. Highly disappointed! Only finished it to be done with it.
I loved this book.
It started off dark and bloody, and while there were brief moments of light and hope, it ended that way too. Nimue watches her Druid village be slaughtered, and is told by her dying mother that she must take the Sword of Power to Merlin. With or without him, Nimue vows to seek protection (and maybe a little revenge) for the remainder of fey kind. Not an easy feat when the king is ambivalent to their fate and the Red Paladins are set on cleansing the earth of their existence. She does ally herself with Arthur the mercenary, but this isn’t his story, and he’s a fickle, disappearing friend at best. His sister Morgan, however, believes in Nimue from the very beginning, and encourages her to be the champion her people need.
This book is filled with brutal action, double-dealing and betrayal, and a flawed but passionate female lead.
The artwork on the other hand was a complete miss for me. The story was compelling on its own, and the illustrations didn’t add anything to my understanding of the scenes.

I was expecting more from this book. That's not to say that others can't like it. This book was sold as a "King Arthur retelling." I was not expecting what I got. When I was reading it I found it very slow and confusing to follow. I also got lost alot because of the writing style. Towards the end I found it hard to still follow the story. Myself and others I know were disappointed by the ending. It felt rushed and like the author did this to wrap everything up neatly. I thing this story could have been better and a graphic novel or comic book format. The illustrations that were included (not many) I felt did not really fit into the story and took me out of what I was reading. Safe to say that I was expecting a kickass woman as a main character and I didn't really get all that.
