This series was amazing!!

I have read Brandon Mull’s other series, Fablehaven/Dragonwatch and Five Kingdoms, and I really enjoyed them, so I picked up this one. My only regret is that I didn’t start it sooner.

This fantasy universe is so wonderfully created, it is definitely one of the most original and entertaining worlds I have ever read about.

I liked getting chapters in more POVs in this book, too. Instead of just Jason and Rachel, we got to hear about things from Tark and Nedwin.

I do have a complaint: Death. I won’t say who, but most of my favorite characters died. How rude? I was loving them!

Overall, absolutely would (and have) recommend the series!

4.75 stars

So I finally finished this book. And it was not bad. I do think the writing was weird. And at times annoying to read. But I liked to story, I liked the ending. I felt connected to the characters. And now when I grow up I want to be a wizard. I want to speak the magical language of Edomic. And be super cool and ✨magical✨

And yes I am aware that all of that sounds like I should rate it higher. But the reason I gave it 2 stars is that when I finished I didn't feel relieved or anything that bad. But I did feel like I just completed a hard project or a homework assignment. And I take that as a sign. I was invested. I did like the plot. I also liked the characters and the world. But I think it draged on.

Bottom line not a bad book. I get why people like it. But after I read the first book I thought that Mull could have made the word work and ended it. I don't think it would have been great if he did that, but maybe it would have been better

I love Brandon Mull, I read all of the Fablehaven series and I really didn't think it could get any better!!! Once again Mr. Mull has come up with an original story that keeps you reading late late into the night, I really didn't want the series to end!! Really looking forward to what comes next for this talented young writer!!!

3 and a half
I liked this series fine. It is not the best fantasy series for young readers ever, but it does a good job creating a fantasy that "could happen" to any 12 year old and yet takes place in another world.

great book love the ending, very well constructed and well thought out, definitely recommend the series
