This was a really fun short story, worth the read even if there are no unicorns in it!! I love John Green's writing, and I love zombie stories, so this couldn't get any better.

John Green's best work. Zombies. Critique of united Statian culture. Homoerotism. Making sense of a shitty world. Good times.

Corn wants the world to contain more corn, so corn evolves us to agree with it: Corn tells us that we could make sugar out of corn, or fuel out of corn, or plastic out of corn, etc. The flu makes us cough, which spreads the flu. Corn makes us corn-hungry, which spreads corn.

So, small confession time. I don't feed my family corn. I just don't. I agree, it's in EVERYTHING we eat. And I don't put it on my family's table to eat because we eat so much of it everywhere else.

And contrary to Mr. Green's initial warning that this is a bad little book, I enjoyed it. It had an interesting idea, funny moments and yet deep moments that made me think.

I enjoyed it.

1.5 stars ... I don't know how a zombie apolocalypse story can be boring but John Green managed it.

Does it hurt me to leave a four star review of a John Green book? Yes. I would give it 4 and a half if I could. This book was amazing, don’t get me wrong. It explores the terrible consequences of sentience and humanity with a splendorous reverie, disguised in the confines of a humorous YA novel. But then again, what Green book doesn’t? And of course, it’s purchase donates money to charity. I only give it four and three quarters stars because there isn’t more of it. The can of worms is left lying half open on the kitchen table. The plot is entirely baked but I feel that there are leftovers to be had. This book officially marks the end of my journey of reading every single published word John Green has ever written, and truth be told, I’m just sad that he hasn’t written an unreasonable amount of books and Zombicorn’s goodreads review must unfortunately suffer the consequences.

(Also I listen to Dear Hank and John and thusly I know how you are about reading goodreads reviews, so John if you’re reading this, thank you. I can’t express how much your work means to me and I love literally everything you’ve ever written, and I can’t wait for there to be more. Until then, I’ll be rereading all of my copies of your books on my shelf, and maybe some of the literature you recommend on the pod. I don’t like to pick favorites but you are hands down my favorite author, so thank you for doing what you do, which is of course, being awesome)

What an interesting mess! I liked it well enough. Mostly, it's just an idea. A quick, strange idea. You should read it.

John Green would have you believe this is not a good story. Granted, it's not his masterpiece. But still, it's a good story, with believable setting and lovable characters.
