This book was so many things to me, and I think it will continue to be. I was skeptical when I picked it up on recommendation from a friend who also runs, but this is the reckoning I needed as an individual, that running needs as a sport, and that we need in society as a whole. I can’t recommend enough and so appreciate the depth and thought and acute truth of this book. This gave me so much to consider and act on, and I think it could be a major call to action and reform for a sport that means so much to me (and so many others) but that is also so deeply harmful in such normalized and ingrained ways.
