I really loved the artwork featured in this book, it's wonderful!
Otherwise just as funny and entertaining as previous Percy Jackson books I've read with the infamous sarcastic undertone used by Percy. Great way to retell these stories in a brief and intelligible way. I also have to say that I probably found my new favorite myth (hero?) from Greek mythology here, Orpheus.

i didnt enjoy this as much as the greek gods book, and i think thats because i knew all of the stories featured in that book before reading them in riordan’s writing voice. the heroes stories that i didnt know felt a little bit difficult to understand and placed emphasis on the wrong parts of the story.

Really interesting and funny. In my opinion this one is better than Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods and that one was great.

If you've ever wondered just who all those Greek heroes were that kept cropping up in the Percy Jackson series, this is the book for you. It's told from Percy Jackson's first person PoV, so be prepared for a lot of snark and hilarity. This book covered all manner of Greek heroes, from the best known to the more obscure. Some of them I was familiar with ahead of time (Atalanta, Hercules, Jason), but others, I'd not. I was interested to know Otrera's story, thanks to her presence in Son of Neptune. This book definitely provides some good background to Greek myths and explains a lot of references from the series.

My only real complaint is there there are a lot of modern references here. That was perfectly fine in the Percy Jackson series, since that's literally modern retellings of Greek myths. But these are meant to be the original Greek myths that took place thousands of years ago. References to cell phones and UPS just felt out of place. Otherwise, it was a very entertaining look at the heroes of Greek myths.
