Cascade is pretty much more of the same as Waterfall, but now Gabi and Lia's mum comes along for the ride. There is still an ongoing battle and of course Gabi and Lia arrive in the midst of it, but now there is also the plague to fight. Just like Waterfall this was such a fun ride, with action from beginning to end and never a dull moment.

I thought it would be interesting for Lia's mum to be there, her being a scientist and all that, but her role in the story was very minimal and I would have liked to see more interactions with her.
I was also hoping for a bit more development in the Gabi-Marcello-romance. It felt a bit flat and not as romantic as the first book, so I hope it will pick up in the third book again.

Although I did not enjoy it as much as Waterfall, Cascade was a great read and I can't wait to get my hands on Torrent which was released last week (1st of September). I love it when I discover great new series and can read them in one go without having to wait for the next book to come out.

This was such a great sequel and only made me want more.  Once the action picks up, it never stop.  The author does a great job at describing the actual conditions of the time period and I found myself cringing more than once while listening.  At the same time, this is also a fairy tale fantasy romance.  She does a great job of combining both reality and fantasy allowing the reader to be fully immersed into the world.  I love this Medieval Italy time period.

This one was more gripping than the first, but also felt longer—like the author was trying to pack a bunch of stuff in not many pages. There were a few times where I was like "oh, that's cheesy" or "that's convenient," but they didn't take away from the story too much. Also there were some great dramatic scenes in there. I'm glad I am finally reading these after wanting to for like a year! So far, they've been as good as I expected, but I am a sucker for medieval times. :)

This is a cute little love story. I really like it for young teen/tween age. It keeps your interest. The only thing I didn't like was it's very feminine power. The teenage heroin is able to go back and sword fight with trained knights and hold her own. That was a little too much for me. I recommend this book for 12 and up.

Just a few things are holding me back from giving it 5 stars. They are little things to do with language translation, and of course the whole time travel thing. They just bug me a lot, even though they don't have much to do with the story overall. Still an adventurous, clean book for teens.

(This is a re-read) Thoroughly enjoyed. The plot was kinda flimsy (seriously bro just teleport back in time to get plauge meds) but there was lots of action and I just find the main character funny. I learned alot the first time I read this, and it catapulted me into my mideval-history-fascination era. This time it mostly reminded me of stuff. I applaud the historical accuracy, though I have questions about the whole time travel thing.

Very rarely does the second book in a series match the allure of the first, but Cascade is the exception, apparently. The pacing was perfect, the action and adventure on par with, maybe even better than, the first book. If you are looking for a fun and quick series to read with enough adventure to keep you intrigued, I can assure you, this is the one for you.

This actually improved for me. Not as heavy handed and the writing was better. Looking forward to Torrent.

AHHHH, I can't handle it! Lisa has an amazing gift for writing endings! I screamed after finishing this book because I can't start Torrent yet, though I'm dying to! What a book!!!
