A nice addition to the Redwall mythology. I liked that Samkin got another appearance and if you're a fan of the Hares from Salamandastron, this is the entry for you! (Warning, their appetites will rub off on you and you will want ALL the food.)

It did feel a bit fractured though. Personally, I would have liked it if the "dry-ditch fever" and shrew arcs were in a separate book so that Samkin, Mara, Salamandastron, and the assassin's horde could have gotten a bit more focus. It was hard to get invested in the different arcs when they were left alone for such long periods of time.

A tour de force of literature, burr aye! Jacques displays his usual knack for building characters, relationships, and perilous situations. At turns comical, tragic, triumphant, and cozy, this hits every note you’d want in a Redwall book and also contains maybe the two saddest reunions of characters and family members in the series. A masterwork

All of these are pretty entertaining, and more of a high fantasy feel than you would usually get from a children's fantasy series.

I love Brian Jacques work and Salamandastron is no exception. From the typically goofy hares to the stocik badger lords and ladies, the characters are interesting and very true to their forms.

This was one of my favorites of the series as a kid and it is still one of them. Brian Jacques just knows how to write a story that has all the facets of the human emotion and that appeals to both adults and kids.

I love the Redwall books! They are just so fun to read. That is all!
