The characters I felt like were bland. So much was being repeated. Not sure if it's simply because I don't enjoy hockey or what it was. But it was way to slow and I needed there to be something happening earlier on in the book. And The fact that the only "exciting" thing was the game, party afterwards and what happened to the girl at said party. Which is a horrible thing to happen I just couldn't get into it.
Also, what made it hard for me to get into it was the fact that he had way too many characters, and he kept switching POVs way too often. I hate it when authors switch POVs like every page or two. it would make sense if he stuck to maybe 3-5 characters POVs and then gave them each a full chapter and rotated it that way.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something. If I did and I remember I'll come back and add it

The first third sets the stage. Beartown is a hockey town, and we learn what that looks like and feels like. Way more characters are introdu ed than I thought I could keep straight in my head (but did somehow anyway).

The second third: a series of events that changes the direction entirely.

The third third: I shake my head, cry, yell at the characters - at a mob who are written so well, so realistically, I feel despair for our world.

The final pages: hope for the future.

I don’t need to add pain to my life voluntarily. I wasn’t enjoying the read.
