The book was a decent read. I struggled to get through the first portion of the book, I lacked understanding of Lysta’s character and the world that was around her. I found many portions of the book to be predictable, such as Evanders betrayal. I feel the character who suffers the most is Lysta. I find her to be very contradictory at times. However, at the end of the day, I am looking forward to reading the next book and hope to see how Lauren continues to grow.
The concept is remarkable and the last 100 pages are this books saving grace. I am glad I pushed through and did not DNF the book.

A good YA fantasy with maybe slightly predictable plot twists but that makes it a nice easy fun read. Recommend it if you grew up on Percy Jackson and needed something targeted at an older audience
Minor: Death, Torture, Violence, Blood, Gaslighting, and War
