You know some TV shows have holiday specials where there is very little to tie the actual plot of the episode in with the others but you don't really mind because you get all the Christmassy, or Thanksgivingsy, or Valentines Day goodness? At first that is exactly what I thought of this book - we get to see every one of the previous couples (and I mean every one) in happy couple mode, all celebrating Christmas together.

I've said in previous reviews that missing some of the books in this series wasn't a major thing, it did have an effect here in that there were a number of people I had never heard of either enjoying their life mates company or stalking them. In terms of the latter, two of the unattached Carpathian males locate their lifemates here - not entirely sure what I think of either. TBH Manolito I don't care about as I know nothing about him or his brothers (though from my quick look on Wikipedia that I refer to below it turns out his is the next book so perhaps I will have more interest then), Skyler and her lifemate I am more interested in. It ties in very much with an almost throwaway comment in Dark Legend and I find that interesting that the scene was being set way back then.
Just had a quick look on Wikipedia and apparently this latter story for Skyler and Dimitri hasn't been published yet despite them being linked as lifemates in 2006! If as many years pass in the Carpathian world as they do in the real world between the two events then I actually really like that idea as it gives Skyler plenty of opportunity to grow up and get her own sense out of life
.

The evil society seems to have disintegrated but we are left with vampires banding together with an evil mage. I said in my reviews of the earlier books that I found the society the most interesting element and now I find my interest moving to Xavier... I foresee myself buying the books I am missing at some point just so I can get the backstory on this!

a reunion/Christmas book. At times a bit too flufftastic for me, but guess that goes with the Christmas book territory. Yet it had it's interesting moments of future books foreshadowing.

The narrator was horrible and grating. He sounded like a sitcom dad. Soooo not sexy.

This book is set a Christmas time and brings all the previously introduced characters and some new characters together. I wasn't thrilled with the way Feehan covered so many characters in such a short time. The story was very choppy, but it was great getting to read about some of the older characters again.

Fun to see all the characters from previous books again, learn more about Skylar and Dominic.
Was a bit surprised about how successful the attacks were on the women and children and none of the Hunters seemed to work on a solution. End felt a bit rushed, but hopefully more detail in the next book.
