Best book available about the early to middle years of SNL.
Some very funny stories on almost every page of this oral history.
Recommended to all of my fellow aged baby boomers.

I love SNL. The book was ok. There were some great stories, but nothing really new or insightful.

It was so great to relive so many moments of the show and revisit the cast members. Great stories and back story on a show that I had never heard and I had no idea that the show ran this way. I think it could have been trimmed down significantly as I feel if repeated itself with the new editions but it was still a captivating read though the size of the book is daunting.

I enjoyed this book, but it's also really weird to read a book that was mainly written 25 years ago.

This book was great. I really enjoy the style this book (and the ESPN book) is written in - it is so different and gives great insight into situations that you would never otherwise hear about. Some of the personal stories about the actors (Gilda Radner, Chris Farley) are pretty heartbreaking, but I think thats what made this book so grea - you really got a behind the scenes look into these people and their lives at SNL. Highly recommended.

didnt want it to end, felt like I had to say bye to all my new friends

The book appears written in a way to generate controversy. Some of the comments made by interviewees were clearly shared with other people to get a specific responses that would feed the controversy. But it isn't clear how consistently this approach was applied. It left me with a sense at times that I was being manipulated in an effort to sell books rather than being given the whole story. It's also a long book with surprisingly few bombshells. Many of the cast members had similar experiences and there isn't a whole lot of specific detail on the incidents that are part of SNL lore (not surprising since many happened long before the book was written). For those who love the show or some of the actors who spent time on it, it's an interesting read, but for neutral observers, a condensed version would have been just as interesting.
