I was absolutely enthralled by the adventure in this book, I loved it so much. Resulted in a major book hangover!
Definitely a story worth reading more than once.

up there as one of the darkest books i’ve ever read. definitely know what you’re getting into. it was also a masterpiece that was ever so slightly too long.

Ahoy! Apparently I am (very) in to pirates now!
I absolutely loved this book, this world, the language used was perfect, the scenes were set vividly, the realism of a harsh life is not shied from or glossed over, the romance/s are interesting and varied and so good. The relationship betweenthe second MMC and the FMC progressed too fast for my liking, I do wish there was more time added there, not necessarily page-wise but in terms of time in the story, a week is not enough IMO.
Also my other main gripe is the lack of on-page detailed intimacy betweenthe MMCs. Yes, we get a satisfying amount of feeling, longing, anguish etc and a lovely few kisses but the nondescript third party viewed sex scene between them was a bit disappointing ha! Anyway, their POV would have been amazing towards the end, and giving the reader a view into how that intimacy feels to them, there is a lot of depth of feeling in the act that I really wanted more of. I *know* how the FMC feels about them, but I wanted to really feel how they are feeling when they give in to one another, especially seeing as it is something they reserve for eachother and do so infrequently. Anyway, that's my little rant!
Otherwise a beautiful albeit dark book, that gives a proper glimpse into how harsh life for a woman would be, and thus how truly strong our FMC is, all she endured, how close she came to hopelessness yet how she came back time and again. I adored her so much, her fortitude was admirable and her reactions, anger, hurt etc all felt truly justified, which is rare to find sometimes! I could rave on and on, loved.

Ahoy there, me hearties! This tome has been on me list for a while, and I knew it'd be a spicy adventure, but by Davy Jones' locker, it turned out to be a fine treasure indeed!
In the beginning, the sails are unfurled as Bennette finds herself on the run from none other than Priest Farrell, a scallywag she once called her husband. The tension between them is thick as a fog, and I must admit, that dashing pirate stole me heart from the start. But blast me if I wasn't taken aback to learn he'd cheated on her, makin' me reckon it might be a tale of second chances.
Yet, fear not, me mateys, for there be twists and turns on the high seas! The truth behind Priest's unfaithfulness comes to light, and it all starts to make sense. Mark me words on this one!
As Bennette sets sail, she finds herself forced to take Priest aboard the ship she commands, Jade. The rogue scoundrel has stolen her compass, a map to treasure and the last relic of her father. While keepin' him in custody, she plays a dangerous game to gather intel, and trust me, that scene was wild! And let me tell ye, me feminism went down like a ship caught in a fierce storm, and there's no turnin' back!
As I grew familiar with Priest's cunning ways, I couldn't wait to see what he'd do when his hands were untied. But alas, fate had other plans! Bennette's kidnapped by Ashley Cuttler, a ruthless pirate hunter, and there went the rest of me feminism, sinkin' to the depths.
Now, I don't condone his actions when he first captures Bennette, but remember, this be a tale of pirates, and ye best be ready for some rough waters. But as his true self is revealed to her, by Blackbeard's beard, the tension and spice ignite like a powder keg. It's a sea of wetness, I tell ye, and Ashley, he's a god amongst pirates!
Then, tragedy strikes like a cannonball to the hull! Bennette's captured again, twice, each time by a different kind of evil. One bein' a rape-y scum, and the other, a violent fiend breakin' her bones. But rest assured, revenge comes swift and fierce! Ashley takes his bloody vengeance upon the man responsible for Bennette's suffering, and the satisfaction in me chest was as sweet as grog on a hot day. The other brute who beat her gets a brutal fate, with his privates and hands meetin' the blade, and I must admit, I relished every moment.
After months of healin', secrets be revealed, mates. A connection between Ashley and Priest is unveiled, one that'll leave ye gaspin' in awe. They've got a history, growin' up together, but fearin' their physical bond. However, with Bennette as their anchor, they overcome their fears. Arr, me hearties, it's a tale of "why choose," and by the stars, I'm glad they all chose to stay together, for the holy steam of trinity is just too good to pass on.
I be yearnin' to set sail and delve into more o' these steamy escapades, for the tale, though not treacherously intricate, be true and free o' any mysterious plot holes. The tellin' of the story be a master's work, and the characters be as captivatin' as a siren's call on a moonlit night!
TL;DR:
- Why choose
- MMF
- enemies to lovers
- lovers to enemies
- spice with plot
- historical romance
- Badass heroine (pirate captain)
- Dark and broody MMC No.1
- Dark-haired, but with the most stunning blue eyes, MMC No. 2
- Touch her and die
