Compared to the others this was my least favorite. I think I couldn’t feel the chemistry as much as the other couples.

I did like how there was more on page mission stuff I enjoyed that a lot.

But the audiobook was amazing because of Greg Boudreaux.

There was so much tension in TIGHT QUARTERS and Annabeth Albert had me wondering how she was going to make things work between these two. There were so many obstacles externally and internally but I really liked how things were handled. I won't go into details so as not to spoil anything but I'll just say my emotions went through all the ups and downs before it was settled. The beginning of the book focused primarily on Spencer being embedded and the developing friendship between Spencer and Bacon while the second half is after Spencer leaves the team. While nothing really happens in the first half, Albert builds up the tension and the emotional connection so that when they do get together, the intimacy means so much more. This created a really nice slow burn throughout.

I really enjoyed Bacon and the fact that this tough Navy SEAL still had a bit of his emo teen years in him. He was really comfortable with himself and his sexuality but he also isn't sure how his team will handle knowing about him. While Bacon's best friend Curly already knows, there are a few guys on the team who frequently make homophobic jokes and he's getting to the end of his tolerance. I loved when Bacon's confidence came through and he finally came out and there were even a few surprises from his team.

Spencer was also a great hero and since he's in his 40's he has a maturity that balances Bacon's more impulsive side nicely. He's been married before but he's so dedicated to his job that he just doesn't see a long term relationship in his life. Spencer is steady and hard working but he's also scared to really take a chance on love. He doesn't quite know how to handle Bacon and navigate the hurdles in a potential relationship and this causes some problems for them. While they struggle to make things work and there's some time apart, I was glad that Albert avoided The Big Misunderstanding and instead Bacon and Spencer talked everything out before taking some time apart. It wasn't that they weren't communicating but that they didn't know how to reach a compromise.

There's one more book in the OUT OF UNIFORM series and I can't wait because I've loved these books from the very beginning.

I wanted to connect with this more, but I didn't.
You don't really see them falling in love. It was good writing, but it was missing something for me.
