“Too often we attempt to address the symptoms of poor writing rather than the disease of poor thinking”.
A great read on how and why we need narration to build relationships, communication skills, build knowledge, retain information, and become great writers. Thankful for the book as we head into the start of our homeschool year.

This is a dense text full of information that explained not only the how of narration but the many reasons to include it. I enjoyed the many examples shared within the text but I had a hard time with the way they were distributed. Sometimes causing a sentence to be broken to insert the examples. I do feel I have a better understanding of narration and will be adding what I have learned to my homeschool days.

Incredibly informative, but unnecessarily verbose. The information was overwhelmingly repetitive and the inserts of examples cut into the text in a slightly confusing way.

This is pretty much the only book you need if you are considering using narration in your school/homeschool. Karen Glass gives every bit of information and motivation that you need in a very concise, easy-to-digest way. She also includes MANY examples of oral and written narration woven right into the text. My copy is all marked up and highlighted, and I’ll be rereading and referring back to it throughout all of our homeschool years.
