Lucas and Charlotte were a fun pair to spend time with.

Discovering a new romance author is such a delight. This was my first Grace Burrowes novel and its engaging and vivid main characters, the perceptible chemistry between them, and the warm, intricate world that Burrowes plunges the reader into made me want to immediately seek out the rest of her back catalog. (Recommendations welcome!)

Miss Charlotte Windham is the last of her sisters to be unmarried. And she has no plans of marrying. Even Lucas Sherbourne doesn't turn her head. Not because he doesn't have a title, but because she has no interest in marriage. Too bad they're caught in a torrid embrace and marriage just happens to be the way to fix it.
The two get to know each other as Sherbourne's mine starts to come into being and Charlotte's good works are continued as much as she can.
I didn't read the others books in this series and I didn't feel like I needed to.

This book wasn’t quite to my taste. The story moved along too slowly and the couple lacked the passion I’d expected.
