This was a really fun and different twist on the Hades and Persephone story. I absolutely loved the idea of trials. There was danger, adventure, humor, and a great slow burn romance. I read this all at once although I know it's originally three books, which I think would have been really weird to read it that way. I liked reading it all as one story with like three parts to it, three separate books would have been weird. All in all I do recommend it as a good adventurous romance with some mild spice.

Zeus is apropriately a complete dickhead in this. I like that he's the villain not Hades, because generally Hades was not as bad as Zeus.
Now, Persephone annoyed me in this. She was adamant near the end that Hades tell her everything when she hid something so obviously dangerous from him. Girl, there are attacks and plots against you, how dumb do you have to be to figure out you should reveal someone is coming to you in your sleep.
There's something I have mixed feelings on. On one hand it was frustrating when Persephony would make stupid decisions in trials. On the other, it's realistic that she'd struggle, both because these are fucked up trials and because she learned she was more than a normal human just a few weeks prior. So watching her struggle would make me mutter under my breath from time to time, but I appreciate more realism.
Now, the story I'd like to read is one that isn't written and won't be, but I'd love to get (even in short form) a story of Psyche and Eros. They're in my top 2 couples greek myth with Persephone and Hades.

Since childhood, I have been obsessed with Greek mythology, so all the retellings of Persephone and Hades are right up my alley. One of the things that stood out to me, though, was the concept of trials for Hades’ hand in marriage. I enjoy books with games/trials because they are always so exciting. This book was no different. I also loved getting to meet the gods, including some that I was not too familiar with. I think this retelling stood true to most of the original myth but also stood out as being different. However, I think the ending felt quite rushed and could have played out the whodunit portion a little more.
Overall, I enjoyed this series. It wasn’t perfect, but it was entertaining. I would recommend this book if you are a fan of Persephone/Hades retellings with a Hunger Game twist.

I am loving the modern take on Greek Mythology. If I could've read this in high school I probably would've liked English Literature more. This was a real slowburn type of romance too because by the time Persephone figures out what is going on and her feelings for Hades, I believe it was in the last book (I'm not sure because I read the complete collection and didn't realize it was 3 books in one). The action was great! Every single trial I was on the edge of my seat wondering how it was going to end and what in the world happened to get Persephone banned from the underworld. Well written even though again, 20-something heroines get on my nerves but Persephone was able to hold her ground too. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

A Hades x Persephone retelling but make it a tournament.
After Zeus kidnaps Persephone, She is taken to the Underworld and forced to compete in the Hades Trials in order to become Hades' wife.
This book focuses more on the trials and Persephone's journey than the romance element, and it made me reminisce the Initiation (Divergent), Huger Games, and the Triwizard Tournament (Harry Potter), overall I enjoyed the book, but I would have liked to see more of the romance.
