Liked:
- I like how Rick doesn’t shy away from the fact that the gods have actual immortal families. Which I feel adds another layer to the fact that the half-bloods are unwanted children.
- Rick also acknowledges Demi-gods dating each other ⬇️
Quote from chapter 4:
And I know some of you might be thinking, Aren't all demigods related on the godly side, and doesn't that make dating gross? But the thing is, the godly side of your family doesn't count, genetically speaking, since gods don't have DNA. A demigod would never think about dating someone who had the same godly parent.
Disliked:
- I really would have liked to see Paul's reaction to learning the truth about Percy - I felt like it was a missed comedic opportunity.
- I have a love-hate relationship with how Hades and Aries have been depicted throughout the series. Ares's depiction didn’t sit right with me— since, in actual mythology, he’s known to be very protective of his children.
And personally I hate when Hades is written as someone trying to take over Olympus. That storyline always feels off, especially given how complex and neutral he is in mythology. - After everything Percy has been through, you would think that they would stop trying to keep him in the dark. It's frustrating how often they still withhold information from him.
- Everyone is worried about Grover because they haven’t heard from him in awhile, yet Percy was able to summon him pretty easily when he and Nico were at the gate to the Underworld. It felt a little inconsistent.
Overall:
I cannot say enough good things about The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series as a whole. This final installment is everything a series-ender should be: intense, emotional, and deeply satisfying. From the very first chapter, the action does not stop delivering revelation after revelation along the way.
Its a full blown war for Olympus.
Even in the middle of war, Uncle Rick finds the perfect balance of humor (Team Connor, by the way. Give that guy some candy!).
Despite how beautiful the ending was, personally I would have liked to see history repeat itself - with Thalia, Percy, and Nico taking down Kronos together, just like how their parents are often depicted as the ones that deal the final blow. I feel like it would have been poetic in a way. But the ending we got still hit hard — especially that final confrontation.

Quote: ( there are too many good quotes to choose from 😖)
"Your powers drain you too much," I noted.
He nodded sleepily. "With great power . . . comes great need to take a nap. Wake me up later?”
