THIS BOOK IS /THE/ DEFINITION OF A SATISFYING, THOUGHTFULLY WRITTEN SERIES ENDING BOOK. rick riordan you’ve already received your flowers but i’m adding more. round of applause like literally. wow. no wonder this series defined so many people’s childhoods like duh.

i’m literally in awe definitely one do the best series ending books i have ever read. i teared up several times, i laughed, and i honestly was so immersed i had the time of my life. if someone told me like 80% of this book was just one week long it would have turned me away but this book was written with so much care and love that even with the awesome fight scenes, you got defining moments with percy as a character and his loved ones (annabeth, nico, grover, rachel, and his parents).

SPEAKING OF CHARACTER GROWTH percy is more grown up in this book than any of the previous (obviously). he is so much more bold (when he asked annabeth for a kiss as good luck i almost fell out of my chair) and also violent lol which is appropriate for the circumstances he’s grown up in. i’m so happy him and annabeth have their cute little ending and we see grover grow up too in the background.

honestly i need more percy jackson content like i need more about silena and charlie reuniting, i need nico spending time at camp, i need annabeth and percy just being teenagers in NY, i need grover and juniper adventures in the wild, and I NEED MORE TYSON I MISSED HIM SO BAD

i’m so sad i finished this series but it was so good ohmygod

i don’t know how to feel

I had so many feeling with this book. I feel like it really had the best ending for a series like this. My heart broke more than half of the time and I’ve really grown to love these characters. This was probably my favorite in the series. Great series, can’t wait for HoO

The fun, engaging, climatic conclusion to Riordan's first series. It is fantastically paced, the characters are lovable, and Riordan manages to follow through on all of his promises. That being said, there are a couple of movements that just feel awkward. Namely, the bestowing of honors following the battle. Percy is perfect and what he asks of the makes sense for both his character and the overall themes of the series. Everyone else? There is something forced about the exchange. Not that they aren't deserving but how it is framed and the shear coincidence of some of it just lands wrong. This is the falling action and does very little to actually affect my opinion of the book or series as a whole but it bugs me.
