I love what they're trying to do with this issue and I really liked the last issue that was like this (issue #4), but this one fell flat for me.

I like the immersive, in-universe publications but I'm dying to get back to the story! Reading this month to month is going to be hard.

I'm sorry, I've got to give this issue a three-star rating, and I'm probably being generous there too.
This is an issue made up entirely of filler. The filler is funny though, so I'm not giving it a lower rating. But I would have seriously preferred the plot to continue. Especially considering that they've already pulled this stunt once already.

I think I may be done with this series. Its premise is interesting, but the execution isn't what I'm looking for. I like my comics to tell a story in installments. And… this one doesn't; when it tries to, it seems to drag so slowly. And then too often, like in this issue, it doesn't try to tell a story.

This issue is, to me, like "fun bonus content" in the back of a collection of issues: it can be fun to read or (depending on the reader's mood) it can be something skipped over to get to the next thing to read. What it is not is something I want to pay the price of an issue to ignore.

I can tell that there is a lot of awesome creativity behind this title, but they seem to have chosen to use that in a way that doesn't work well for a me as a reader. I hope that they find readers it works for and I hope I see future projects from them that fit my reading preferences.

What an odd filler issue.

This is another "joke" issue that doesn't further the plot (unless we hear more about Jennifer, Mandy, and places mentioned)... and it's great. This one has GAMES.

Man-Eaters needs to stop doing this filler issue bull****. If they don't want to release an issue sometimes, just skip having an issue for that month. This kind of content would be great in the back of a collected volume, but as a single issue it is infuriating. It feels like it's just a cash grab. Image Comics and Chelsea Cain, do better.

I mean, how is it possible that it gets better when it's hit so many improbably high points?!

Truth be told, there's not proper story for this series. Maud's adventures are more of a background story, something that justifies publishing all sorts of crazy, hilarious, fake games and magazines and ads and government agency descriptions. I wish they'd acknowledge it and run with it. I don't care about Maud's story or any other character. But I care very much about all the genius things the writer and illustrator will come up with. This comic is 100% for people who need their spirit uplifted after fighting sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc. on a daily basis. It's not a good comic, but it's a wonderful anthology of everything feminist and creative.
