Not particularly well written. It did bring to mind the severe suffering some Christians are encountering in other countries. Many Christians in the US think their rights are infringed on and I think this book would be good for them to read to get perspective.
I don’t agree with the writer of this book 100%, but I believe his witness is incredibly important. My 5 star rating is based off of the fact that I wholeheartedly recommend this book to people, but would also encourage them to hear his stories and draw their own conclusions from them. Months after finishing the book I still reflect on his story and the people he met.
I absolutely loved this book! It was very opening to read stories about Christians over the world be persecuted for their faith and their willingness to fight and die for Jesus! We as a country are very spoiled with the fact that we can openly share our faith and praise God without persecution. It’s time we as Christians stand up for God and His principles. There may come a time when we will be persecuted here in the US! Let’s never take our faith and relationship with God for granted!

This book broke my heart and gave me a new perspective on the gospel. All believers should read this.
Wow! What a great book! The book is essentially half autobiographical, telling the story of Nik and his family as they moved from America to Africa as missionaries. Ultimately they served in Somaliland during the mid-nineties and saw some absolute atrocious scenes. In the process they served tens of thousands of individuals suffering from starvation, malnutrition, and other ailments. They eventually come back to America and then Nik travels around to just about every country in the world that is persecuting Christians. He travels the globe in order to interview various believers that have been living under persecution. The last half of the book tells story after story of believers all over the world that have encountered tremendous persecution for their faith. It's an incredible journey, and the telling of the tale is fantastic.
It's clear that this book tells only a small portion of what Nik learned in his travels. I'm certain there will be other books, and I would bet that the full versions of what he learned will not be out for a few decades, in order to ensure the safety of those that still live in violent and hostile countries.
This book is a must read for believers, and I would add that it's probably most important for those in America to read and meditate upon. I don't think you can read this book openly as a believer in Jesus and not be changed.
