That was lots of fun. When I went searching for something similar to Assistant to the Villain, the internet recommended this. It did not disappoint. Though I don't think this series has or will earn the same ride or die eternal loyalty that I have to AttV, I very much enjoyed it and do agree if you are looking for something with a similar vibe, look no further. It's giving Assisant to the Villain, but add demons and make it Darker.

Damien and Amma are thrown together on an unexpected adventure to save a demon—though Amma has no idea that’s what’s really going on. She’s a thief who picked the wrong target when she tried to rob a demon’s son, and Damien is a blood mage caught between helping his demon father and trying to cope with everything that comes his way. Their constant bickering is entertaining and Damien often comes across as the most grounded character in the chaos. The story takes its time to unfold, introducing us to a wide range of creatures and a different magic system. By the time the plot comes together, it delivers a surprising twist and leaves us with an open ending. I hadn’t realized the book wasn’t self-contained, so I’ll need to pick up the sequel to see how the story continues.

These are so fun. Monty Python romantasy!

This is like if Terry Pratchett wrote romantasy, which sounds like a good idea but didn’t really work for me.
