This book was so cute! It had me giggling a few times!
Loved the characters, especially Damien who wants SO BAD to be evil, but we all know hes a big marshmallow deep down. The FMC was cute and sweet, and she wants so badly to see the good in things. Their banter was cute! <3
I'm not a grammar wizard but a lot of it felt like run-on sentences. LOTS of commas. There were lots of "paragraphs" that were made up of just one REALLY long sentence. It didn't take away from the overall story, but it irked me. This could have done with a better editor in my opinion. I do think the book was too long. I got bored in places, and there wasn't a super clear direction for where this book was going and what the end game was. The side quests were unclear at times, but we got there in the end.
Overall, I really liked this book! It was highly entertaining, and I can't wait to finish the series!

Finished the whole series, and I will give all of them 4 stars. I did get tired of the side quests and the rambling, and the POINT of this whole series seems to get lost sometimes. Are we saving Amma? Killing the king? Saving Damien's father? Finding Damiens mother? Defeating evil? We just kinda bumble around in this world until we come to a conclusion. All in all, super cute read. I liked it! I just wish it was shorter.

Funny magical adventure. Damien repeatedly says he’s evil and yet he heals kittens and helps a town clear out its succubi infestation all while not killing Amma to get what he wants. He also refuses to believe he has the capacity to love or be loved but his dad is having a minion hug him towards the beginning of the book because he’s trapped in a crystal and can’t hug Damien himself. Amma has her own secrets while trapped at Damien’s side but is less interesting in her “sunshine” personality until we get to her town at the end of the book. Lots of little exciting events for them to overcome within the overall quest that were extremely interesting. Overall it was enjoyable but a little too long. So many open questions though so I’m ready for the next book.

I was really looking forward to this read but I found myself really having to push through a lot (could be just me, I wasn’t as keen on reading during this). While both main characters are like EVERYTHING to me, I found a lot of the descriptions confusing which really took me out and made it hard to keep myself engaged. The last 25% is definitely the most exciting part but the beginning was at times dreadful even if the book theoretically sounds perfect for me.
DNF - i had really high hopes for this but i found it was boring and flat :(. Not for me :/

Couldn't get into it. I think it boils down to the fact that I like my characters to be smart and funny, not my stories, if that makes any sense.
