This was unfortunately so disappointing. I was into it for the first third, but the rest was so sad, repetitive, and derailed any enjoyment I had been having. I thought the description of the characters dealing with a loved one with dementia felt authentic, but the family dynamics were so odd and unlikable. I liked Xavier, but was disappointed at the outcome of his arc. Samantha’s arc felt flat until being rushed at the end, where she didn’t end up anywhere anyways? I wasn’t a fan of the resolution of this book, either. I’ll continue to read future releases, but with some hesitation.
Graphic: Dementia
Moderate: Child abuse
Minor: Animal cruelty

A nice, light but interesting romance to read! I enjoyed this one a little more than the other AJ book I read (Just for the Summer). I think the interesting thing about this book is the way that central conflict of the book doesn’t feel contrived like a lot of contemporary romance (a simple miscommunication, for example) but is a super real problem a lot of couples face - distance! I think it dealt with the challenges of a long distance relationship, and the pressures of work and family in a way that felt very authentic. I really liked the family dynamic, and the representation of a multigenerational family all living together, as well as the burn out of caregiving.

Predictable but not in a bad way
Usually not a huge fan of insta love but when you know you know.
I really truly enjoyed it, had a good time and rly connected w the characters and their lives, made me sad and happy. Almost even shed a tear at the end

This was my first Abby Jimenez book, and I loved it! I will definitely be reading more books by her.
