Omg what an amazing book. I couldn't put it down even when eating and when forced to put it down I just wanted to hurry back to it. It didn't even need the spice to be an amazing story. I'd say better than Maas books! Thank you Rebecca Yarros

Saw that one on shelves everywhere and thought that'd be a good story, especially that I haven't read a lot featuring dragons. So I gave it a go... Well dragons were not the main topic here, they are barely part of the story I found and were pretty much... disappointing. They are supposed to be fierce and all, didn't  feel that way though. No, main topic here is the love story between the main characters, that'sthe focus, the rest is just to serve that and to me was not entertaining enough (the other way around actually). World building and other characters were weak to me. Main characters are supposed to be smart, again was not convinced here. We are told they are, that's all. Some repartees had me cringing more than anything else, I was not impressed in that category. Writing style... had my eyes rolling several times, especially when  the exact same turn of phrase was used  multiple times ('anyone got their asses handed to them?' is the worst). Plot twists... saw them all coming, expecting them and they did - except probably the last one (but should have really, was not paying much attention anymore at that point I guess, eager to finish it).
In short in my opinion this work does not deserve the stellar marks it has, but maybe the current style of books is just not for me. Will not continue the series.

This was so good! I waited so long to read this because I just knew l'd love it. Why? No idea! But it didn't disappoint! What a wild ride that I didn't want to put down.

Beautifully written with incredible world-building. Fourth Wing is everything I long for in a fantasy book. Bonus for sarcastic dragons

It was a very okay read. Actually, not really? So much of it didn’t make sense / was too far fetched maybe? I know it’s fiction but a great fiction read has to be believable, and this one just had so many plot & character holes. I’m curious about the rest of the series but not particularly investing my time in it if it’s more of the same…

I don't know if it was the hype surrounding it, or the fact that so many people credit this book as the reason they returned to reading, but I think I went in with too high of expectations. Don't get me wrong. 4-star, all day, and one of my favorites for sure, but I was expecting to be blown away, and it was just a good and solid read. Maybe I need to adjust the content I ingest, because I was expecting shoes blown off, can't put down, read in a marathon record enjoyment, and I got a good story (that I will be continuing), but not the 5-star everyone else around me tells me it deserves. Maybe that'll change on a re-read in a couple of years or maybe when Amazon releases the video series and I can compare the media, but for now, it's a 4-star fave, and I'm starting Iron Flame.

All I can say is, go in expecting a great book, but don't expect it to change you like it seems to other people, and maybe you'll be surprised.

Starts off a bit rushed but plot develops into a great read

4.25 This was so much fun ~~

,,A dragon without a rider is a tragedy. A rider without their dragon is dead."

,,You're going to be the death of me."
