I'm holding back from giving a full 5 stars given I thought it dragged a little at certain points, but I think this one really highlights how starved Pet is for affection - which was apparent in the two previous books, but it became very clear in this one. There are moments where it becomes heartbreaking, especially with the moments where Athelas under torture mentions it's a shame that they let her live since he got attached to her, but it somehow doesn't manage to become *too* dark even if the whole "pet" situation is still pretty messed up (as I mentioned for the review for the first book). Thankfully, it's not all tragedy and angst given it's pretty well-balanced with comedy - in great part thanks to JinYeong, the Most Useless Vampire Ever (affectionate).

There's a lot more I could say but the cliffhanger this ended on makes me very eager to pick up the next book, but I think this sums it up pretty nicely.

Loved this!! More plot and secrets revealed and the best part is Pet's relationship with the three psychos. So fun to read and I loved the drama. Also is there a little something there with JinYeong? I'm kinda sad I'm burning through this so quickly.

I'm really loving this makeshift / found family they have going on, even if the nonhumans of the group won't acknowledge it. This one pulled at my heartstrings quite a bit though, what with the situation with Athelas (his absence in the usual dynamics of the group made an obvious impact) and the things Pet has to go through when she tries continuously to rescue him. I was so invested in finding out how it would end, I sped-read this in only a few hours.

A Very Enjoyable Series

This isn't a series you can jump in to the middle of so go read the first two, just trust me. I'm completely entertained although the slow reveals on the Fae and all of that are killing me! I'm having great fun reading about Pet and I think a certain detective deserves a spin off for all the trouble he's been put through. I'd love to see him as a protagonist even if it was just a short story.
