”My wife, ladies and gentlemen. Beauty, brains, and now brawn”

I enjoyed this book significantly more this time around. I can actually say I had a great time whilst reading it. Which is kinda weird, considering how convoluted the plot is.

This is the shortest book, which makes no sense. There were so many different plot strands left untied from the past books, this one was bound to be at least 500 pages. And it’s not. My god.

Still, it’s the nostalgia that makes it impossible for me to actually judge this book. Whenever Rose and Dimitri showed up my heart leaped. And Sydney and Adrian… yeah. I adore them.

It was a good enough ending, I guess. Not the masterpiece I was hoping for, but still.

I rarely write extensive reviews (or none at all) but this series deserves one. I waited until I finished the last book to share my thoughts because one thing I noticed shortly after I began reading Bloodlines was how cohesive Richelle managed to keep the story. I'm rating it five stars as a whole.

I loved VA, but this spin-off, somehow, managed to be so much better. I was completely enraptured by the plot and these characters I've grown to love so much. Sydney is one of the most brilliant characters I have ever read of; there were so many details embedded into her persona, it was brilliant. Consistency was key in this series, even if the story (I feel) was quite rushed towards the end. There were some things that were not adressed, but even so, the ones that were, Mead managed to explain them in the most cohesive way possible. I love how I found details from the previous book, on the next one. If you paid attention to the details, maybe there wasn't as much as an element of surprise as you'd expect from a series like this, but the closure of the story payed off, imo.

I've read requests for another spin-off of this, but I don't think that'd be smart. I feel like everything that had to be covered, was, in a beautiful, simple way. It was an hell of a good journey, and this just became one of my favorite series of all time.

There were times when I was not convinced or too happy with the way the story was going.

However, I am sucker for these characters and am mostly happy with the end result of this book.

Was it as great as Vampire Academy? Nope. But it was sweet.

Four stars for sweet.

The story feels a bit rushed and have less action than I expected so I'm a bit disappointed but here's hoping the author will invite us to this world again in the future especially considering there's still a LOT of questions left unanswered

Entering this Vampire Academy world has been amazing. This world is so unique. I don't care what others say. Vampires are cool. I don't even think of it as a vampire series. Vampire Academy and bloodlines are two of the best series I've ever read. It was a great finale to the best books. I can't wait for more Sydrian and Romitri. Oh and Declan. - April 6 2015
