let's ignore the fact that I was meant to have read this long before the anime adaptation (which I haven't seen yet) started airing, but oh well, I'm here now. I'll be completely honest, I was pretty apprehensive going into this because of the fact that this starts in media res without any sort of buildup (something that could be done really well or really poorly, depending on the media), but my goodness was this spectacular. the art is gorgeous and the mangaka's use of symbolism and onomatopoeia has me gnawing at the bars of my enclosure. I was hooked from start to finish - so much so that I read this in one sitting, which isn't abnormal for me when it comes to manga, but still. I'm deeply terrified for how the rest of this is going to unfold, but also... I can't wait.

I cannot think of something else that actually hooked me so swiftly and had no build up you're just in it- while simultaneously often having a slice of life feel. I immediately read everything else that was out the same day. This is such a solid queer horror that it should be immediately recommended to anyone interested in the genre.
