This super edition included everything I usually want in my super edition books: a unique journey, a specific mission being fulfilled, and time spent developing characters that we already know well from other Warriors books. The decision to have Sandstorm join Firestar on this quest makes sense as well, as Firestar should bring another cat with him but wouldn't be able to take his deputy or medicine cat (making Graystripe and Cinderpelt non-options). I also found it interesting to watch them try to create a clan, as this was an extremely difficult task to attempt, and the way they went about doing so was cool. The cats they work with were interesting and unique as well (an impressive task to accomplish in a series with so many characters!) and Echosong, Leafstar, and Clovertail remain some of my favorite cats from the entire series.
But I really dislike the amount of time spent proving that Firestar is "over" Spottedleaf when they barely interacted while she was alive. She died so quickly, and I never got the feeling during the original series arc that, had she lived, they would have ever been a couple. Firestar's feelings for her when she was alive always, to me, just felt like a young unrequited crush. But apparently not? Apparently she liked him back but never would have acted on it so it doesn't matter, and isn't something Sandstorm should be jealous of! The time spent convincing Sandstorm that Spottedleaf isn't a threat to their relationship really, really annoyed me.
Which is unfortunate, because if those sections were removed this would definitely be getting a five star review from me. I still enjoyed this book anyway, and it does definitely have a special place in my heart for being the first ever Warriors super edition, since some of the super editions are my all time favorite Warriors books.

Love triangle with a dead cat was dumb. It makes it even more dumb that Sandstorm doesn’t even know that Spottedleaf was visiting Firestar’s dreams. So Sandstorm is jealous of a cat that she thinks only talked to Firestar twice.

The journey was boring and parts of the story really drags.

I don’t like it that the clan cats believe their way is the best and most of the time looks down on any cat that lived differently. This book isn’t as bad with it because of the plot but similar things in this book keep happening even when the cat is shown to be happy with its life. In this book you don’t get much but you get hints of it. There are later books that does this more.

It would be interesting if after Firestar left Skyclan started doing their own thing and changing some of the rules. There are no other clans around so that makes it so they don’t have to worry about clan rivalry. They don’t really need kick cats off their territory because they have all this space and there is enough food for the clan and any cat passing by.

This is the first Warriors Super Editions I have read. It took me a lot longer to get through compared to the other Warrior books I have read. The first half really dragged but once I got through that, the rest was so good that I have given it 4 stars.

This book is set after The Prophecies Begin, before The New Prophecy, and is published after [b:The Sight|197457|The Sight (Warriors Power of Three, #1)|Erin Hunter|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1363489119l/197457._SY75_.jpg|2833963]. It introduces the new clan, Skyclan, that left the forest many moons ago and has since scattered. Firestar is sent to restore this lost clan.

I don't know how much this will affect the further stories in the series, but I am interested to find out!

It was great and exiting!
