I read the audiobook.  Didn't really like the narrator's pace and phrasing.  But the story was good.

This is heart wrenching and heartwarming  all at once. The secrets a family keeps can be devastating but are often kept because the keeper feels it’s best even when it probably isn’t.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Started on the slower side but as soon as the drama hit, I was hooked. These sisters are absolute firecrackers.

Lit Fic, deep discussions about r*pe, falling back in love with your family, reads like a bravo show switching between each characters POV

Decent read. It starts off slow but eventually does pick up and get pretty juicy. I definitely didn’t see it coming that Leslie was Maxine’s daughter but this made reading about the verbal and physical abuse Maxine inflicted on her even harder. The insults like “tar baby” were particularly hard to get past. The whole family could benefit from some therapy but it was nice that they got all the secrets out and started a journey towards healing. Also I thought Smackover was a made up town but was pleasantly surprised to learn that it is a real place
