Ugly Love definitely lived up to the hype it has been given. Although there was not a huge amount of plot and it was more the characters going back and forth with each other, it was written well and I was hooked. A nice, typical romance story with very complex characters. It tackles some really devastating topics which even though parts were very difficult to read, I'm glad it mentions them. My favourite moment was one of the last few chapters, where Miles visits Rachel to get some closure about their traumatic past. It was such a brilliant bit of writing and full of raw emotion.

Not my favorite Colleen Hoover book but it was still decent. It was a fun read at first but as you think a little more the more you realize it wasn’t as great as you think. I just feel like the character traits and growth was inconsistent and that really messed with the plot. For example, (no spoilers don’t worry) Miles, one of the main characters used grief and panic as an excuse for many many things that shouldn’t have an excuse. Grief is very prominent in this book but other characters simply forgave and moved on. It was never addressed as how badly certain actions hurt others or how people and actions/things needed to change. And this book would have been liked more if that had changed. Other than that I like the two main characters relationship towards the end. But in the beginning again, their relationship felt uncomfortable. Like somehow manipulation or gaslighting was involved, even though it was never directly stated or somewhat brought up. Maybe it was just me that felt uncomfortable by parts of their relationship, but I didn’t like many parts of it which made my liking for the book go down. It wasn’t a horrible book, just don’t one of my favorites.

This is my new favourite book.
Everything made sense, the ending was just perfect and you could really experience the growth of the characters. The story gave me butterflies as well as several streams of tears running down my face. Colleen Hoover never disappoints. Hopefully, I‘ll always remember my first time reading this.

The story was fast-paced for me especially at the beginning, to the point I got I confused. I had a hard time connecting with the characters at first, but eventually empathized with them as the story progressed. I have a love-hate relationship with Miles. I hated him for being like that with Tate, but I also kind of understand him & I like how he is aware of his actions. The writing is okay for me. I appreciate the alternating present-past chapters because it felt like CoHo was giving us a glimpse of Miles' past so that we know his story behind and why he is acting the way he is. Also I cried lol. Good read

For me personally, I was not a fan of the sexual scenes in this book. They seemed  dragged out and overly descriptive, in my opinion. I think I could have pushed through and finished the book if I was more attached to the characters. I did not like the relationship between Miles and Tate, nor them as individual characters. I also wasn’t a big fan of the writing but the plot was quite fast-paced. That being said, I am not typically a romance reader so I can see why some people love this book. It just wasn’t for me as it’s not a genre I particularly enjoy.
