When I rate books, 4 stars covers a pretty wide array. There's it-wasn't-the-worst 4 stars, I-loved-it-but-it-wasn't-perfect 4 stars, and the many different 4 stars in between. No Safety in Numbers falls in between. It took me a while to get into it, but once I did, I finished pretty quickly. I did get to know the characters pretty well, though I only empathized with Shay and (sometimes) Lexi. I don't have anything against the boys, I even understand where they were coming from (sort of) but really, was all that really necessary? Oh well. Anyway, I will be reading the second book, and most likely the third when it appears, but it wasn't the best book I've read this year.

Not as good as Hunger Games or Divergent, but those are hard to live up to. This one is good, and kept my attention, I'm interested to see what happens in the next book in the series. I wouldn't really call it dystopian, because it is set in present day, it is accurate to call it the modern day lord of the flies.

Loved it. The internal dialogue is everything. It's hysterical and the clapbacks made me cackle. There is a lot of wholsesome stuff that helps ease the suspense and tension and that by far was my favorite part. Tbe chapters are broken into 4 pov's so it keeps you engaged.

Childish, predictable, annoying. I wanted to love it, but I just couldn't. It was such a short book, and it took me forever to get through because I hated the characters, and I hated the plot.

This is a pretty fun book with an interesting idea for a plot and a diverse cast of characters. However, the characters were just okay to me, I didn't really love all of them, but a fairly compelling story (or at least idea) means I'll give the next one a shot.

Can't get into the humdrum writing style. Feels like even the author was bored while writing it. DNF at 20 pages in.

This book was suggested by my 12 year old who read it in school. I believe it came out in 2012 but it was pretty spot on with everything happening since 2020. Obviously a teen read but I enjoyed talking about the characters and plot with my son.

Good book. Kind of basic, read from August of 2013, skipped the whole school year from reading, picked up and finished from May 18th, to May 20th 2014. Want to read the sequel just to see what happens.

I expected more from this book. I'm still going to read the next 2 in the series. But... It definitely wasn't anything I thought it would be.
YA fiction. Told from 4 different pov's: Marco, Shay, Lexi, and Ryan. It's like a literary Breakfast Club about a pandemic and people trapped in a mall. As opposed to being stuck in detention for the day.
It wasn't exciting. It didn't have me on the edge of my seat. It might not have even realistically captured how people would act in this situation. Marco and Lexi were likable. Shay was OK. Ryan, eh.
Don't go into this expecting an action packed thrill ride. That's for sure.
I'm hoping they get progressively better.
