Oh, dear! I guess I fell for the Booktok cause this book was such a disappointment and seriously lacking plot. It also has one of my most detested trope: miscommunication.

It was so obvious to me from what the beginning what the “betrayal” was and gosh I wanted to smack Kade. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I also couldn’t stand Stacey and why she wouldn’t just tell Kade about Chris, her disgusting and abusive step-brother.

Unfortunately the book is steeped in implausibility.  How have none of Stacey’s friends ever not been to her house? How do you not know who Chris is? How have they never noticed Stacey’s scars?

The story is very soap opera like, with little logic. But it’s readable, ngl, and I do want to see how the story concludes.

This was everything I want from a dark romance!!
Amazing!!! The characters have so much depth to them, the spice was

MMC - Kade. Super weird teen who didn’t like being touched who grew up to be obsessed with the FMC and also a drug dealer and hitman and prostitute for some powerful lady. FMC - Stacey. BFF with Kade’s sister. Falls in love with Kade when they’re teens. Gets raped and blamed for “cheating.” Has a weird, abusive step brother. Loves Kade but is still hurting. Oh. And Kade’s dad is an imprisoned serial killer. Part of a trilogy so there’s a cliffhanger where Kade sends Stacey away from him so that his…”boss” doesn’t find out about her and ruin her life or kill her.

If you can suspend disbelief at
someone becoming an unstoppable trained assassin in two years
then yeah it’s fun
