This Brazilian classic is such a moving, heart wrenching, powerful book about life and grief. I feel for Zezé as I definitely relate to part of his story. Seeing the black and white of Zezé’s worlds turning into grey and then into color was transformative and inspiring. Since this was based on a true story I hope Zezé and Manuel have reunited and have been on eternal adventures together since ✨

I remembered this book being sad, but as I read it when I was younger I thought I was totally exaggerating because drama queen always. Though still, even re-reading it, I could stop sobbing. I just loved the main character and hated how unfair everything was.
Such a good short book.
