As a fan of the show Castle, I did enjoy this quick mystery read. The dynamics amongst all of the characters are identical to what I'm used to watching on the TV show, and it is that dynamic and the quick wit that keeps my watching. Even though Rick Castle is a fictional character, I hope he publishes another book...one that the viewing public can enjoy as a novel, and as a prop on the show.

It’s probably a three star book but I was watching an episode of Castle in my mind while I read it and that made it a pretty fun read. Can’t believe I only just discovered these!

I shouldn't compare these characters to the characters on the show Castle, but that's how I went into this book. I really wanted Rook and Heat to be Castle and Beckett, but they weren't necessarily. I didn't like Heat as much as I anticipated I would, so the book just left me a little disappointed. The story was decent though, with a twist I didn't see coming.

A very good read. Basically like reading one of the episodes of Castle. I'm hoping the library has the next book :).
Update: I have since bought this, and the next 3, books in the series. Being able to read these books as you watch the show adds so many layers to the story and to the characters. Absolutely wonderful!

This book was a lot of fun! It really read like an episode of the show, which is kinda the goal with this type of book. I enjoyed the changes to the plot, though, and will be looking forward to book 2! (When's the next Ithaca book sale??)

As a fan of the television show Castle, I enjoyed reading the first book of the "Nikki Heat" series. I not only liked the mystery but I also liked remembering scenes from the show and seeing the subtle changes depicted in the book. I look forward to reading the next book, Naked Heat.

My husband and I watch the tv show, Castle, and he bought this book for me for Christmas. I have to say that actually producing a book written by a character on a tv show is pretty awesome marketing... :) That said, the book was actually quite good. I felt like I was in the middle of an episode of Castle, but better because there was more time for character development and side stories. Don't know who REALLY wrote the book, but I'll be happy to buy the next one that comes out, too!
