This book felt very predictable but also frustratingly dodgy with background plot points. I felt impatient for the book to end.
I feel like I would rate this somewhere between 3½ stars to 4 stars, though I did rate it 4 mainly because Goodreads doesn't have half stars.
Although I did like this a good bit, and I did find this book to be engaging, I wasn't overly fond of this whole book spanning the time of only four days. Plus, all of the insta-love and insta-trust really irked me.
That ending, though, was very unexpected, and I really liked it, but I did end up correctly guessing parts of it.
I will most likely read the rest of this series, and I probably will recommend this book to people, but The Traitor's Game isn't a book that I could automatically say, "You absolutely need to read this book."

The characters were annoying, the dialogue overdone.

Started out promising but the one dimensional characters got on my nerves.

This book slayed! While it didn't WOW me, I loved everything about it. It had an action-packed plot, many deceptions, and a cute little side romance that I absolutely devoured. I loved the main character, she was everything a strong female lead should be. As for the main man, his entire character lacked depth and it felt like his POV was missing something, but that made for more surprises and twists at the end so I suppose I can't be too mad. The setting was also really well done, but I wish there was either a map or better descriptions of the politics because I do tend to forget terms easily since I read so quickly, so there were several times I had to go back and reference old passages because there was just so much going on. Overall, this is more of a 4.75 but I adored it as much as a 5 star.
I also want to add that this author's first series, The Ascendance Trilogy, is the series that got me into reading back in middle school, and her books are absolutely spectacular ones that should be WAY more popular than they are - everyone go check her out!!!
