Holy dark romance batman! I mean I understand the theory behind EMDR, but it isn’t practiced quite like the way it shows in this book. It’s not meant to break the survivor, and it sure as shit isn’t supposed to have the survivor experience their trauma again like the first time. The smut is just right though 😍

Secret society, brooding men, dark backstories, thrust into a new life - say no more! The trigger warning are in depth and should be read if some dark world concepts are triggering (death, murder, assault, mental health). This book follows the Lords of Darkness - an underground secret society and run by the five families. Having one of the five die at the beginning, an heir must step up. Cue Harlow, who has come back to the UK for her dads funeral just to be thrown in as his heir. Harlow is really annoying/naive but also can come across with strength and when her guard is down, plays well in the group. So I’m torn on her. The men? Gold. Love them all. This is a RH even though we haven’t seen much (other than tension) and I have big expectations for the next book. This whole book really focuses on her initiation and overcoming her fears and I can’t wait to get into the real dark stuff next book. And well of course, group stuff.

I devoured this dark why choose romance in just one sitting. It is very mysterious and ends on a cliffhanger. This is perfect for lovers of The Ritual by Shantel Tessier and who love the touch her and you die trope with absolute protective alpha holes for male men characters. The FMC is a strong minded baddie who will end up owning them I am sure ! I love her determination and loyalty to her family as well as her utter resilience

The type of cliffhanger that makes me glad that I only need to wait a few week to get the next book. Lords of Darkness is dark, makes you question if these guys are heroes or antiheroes. Is doing bad things for a good cause still bad? The lines are so gray and murky you can't even see them. The things the guys do to Harlow were wrong but was the intention behind their actions so bad? And the steam was off the charts hot. I cannot wait to see what will happen next. Next month's release of book two can't come soon enough.
