Didn’t work for me…
I really wanted to like this book. It had a lot of tropes that I enjoy…but it just fell flat. The FMC’s personality was pretty contradictory. The MMCs…didn’t really have much of an individual personality. There wasn’t much relationship building. The plot had potential, but it didn’t grab me.
The two biggest things - there was no sense of urgency, and no big bad. Other than resolving the cliffhanger (which, given there’s a book two, I can sort of work out how it goes…), I don’t really have a burning need to read the next book.
