Not for me, and there was a lot of repetition and back and forth. And maybe I'm neither the target audience or literary-minded enough to get it which is why I'm tempted to use words like nonsense...

But I slogged through it, nearly dnfed at the completely unnecessary murder of the cat that she had abused throughout the book. But persevered. Wouldn't do it again.

Gosh this book was SOOO close to five stars. I am so happy I read this after I became a mother - the metaphor for motherhood and the feelings expressed in it are spot on. The statement about the wildness of being a mother and beautiful violence of motherhood was amazing and poignant. The only reason I did not give this book five stars is I truly believe it would have functioned batter as a short story, ending after section one. After this, it kind of kept doubling down on the same metaphor and although good, felt long at times. Overall though I would recommend this book and can't wait to watch the movie
