Solidly fine. Interesting, but I'm not a fan of the style. The nameless third-person thing is a little grating. It has its moments for sure, and I love a good monstrous woman theme, but overall lackluster without a good climax. Also-- not nearly as violent as everyone is making it out to be.

Is the mother of a young boy turning into a dog? Is there more meaning to being a stay-at-home mom, and will she ever get back into her career as an artist?
Wow! I don't know if it's because I've been a SAHM for so long or what, but so much of this book really resonated with me. And the voice with which this character is written! The words seemed to flow off the page and into my psyche. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because I really think it would have worked better as a novella--just disregard the latter two thirds of the book. The first third can stand alone perfectly.
