"Yes, certainly, her emerging rage was in part a by-product of physiological processes, but how could you not be pissed after having a baby?"

Nightbitch - Rachel Yoder

If you are a mother, read this book. If you are a father, read this book. If you are a woman, read this book. Or, if you are anyone even remotely related to a woman or a parent, read this book.

Nightbitch is a quintessential 'weird girl book'. It is raw and feral and gritty and honest. Reminiscent of "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Nightbitch follows a new mother's descent into madness as she navigates motherhood while simultaneously confronting the ugly side of being a woman, societal pressures and inequity of her marriage.

Simultaneously one of the weirdest books I've read this year and one of my favourites. Nightbitch is a love letter to mothers, and women, everywhere to say we hear you, we see you and we support you. It was a book full of rage, power and love. I simply could not put it down.

DID NOT FINISH

I just couldnt get through it. Its not an easy read and I couldnt get through the third person writing and "the mother's" way of thinking. I dont see myself picking this book up to finish.

I can't quite decide what I think of this one. The premise was really cool and some of the imagery used was very beautiful. The themes are very important, too. I found the style a bit hard to read, and while I enjoyed it, I also looked forward to it being over!
