An appropriately dark conclusion to an already dark series, with Gotham being torn apart in Infinite Crisis (a tie-in story that actually works really well, even though it has almost no repercussions whatsoever), Robin apparently turning up dead in an alley, and a longtime cast member dying. It's a damn shame this was cancelled when it was, as there is plenty of meat left on the bone here (not to mention that the art is better than it's ever been). Overall, this may very well be the best Batman title that's ever been published, and Batman is barely in it.

Great series about the men and women of the M.C.U. and their constant battle against crime with The Bat hanging over their shoulders all the time. The idea of how the force is constantly being shown up by Batman is not a concept that is usually explored or even considered. Solid stories and a rough art style with plenty of shadows makes for a great combination.

Reaching the final page of this series was bittersweet. This book was a great one to end the series, although the ending caught me totally by surprise. Ed Brubaker and Greg Rucka are geniuses and if after reading the Gotham Central series you don't agree then something is wrong with you so go back and read it again.

This felt a lot more disjointed than the other three. The individual stories were good but it all ended feeling a bit unresolved.

The Gotham Central books were never dissappointing. Cordovan kept to the spirit of the first three volumes, offering a dark, realistic Gotham where we actually care about Montoya's and MacDonald's personal lives. A fine read and a fine finish to the untimely terminated Gotham Central series.
