I have a greater appreciation for this book as an adult teaching it to kids! The feelings, emotions, and themes will never be dated since kids and thier problems don't change.

People say that they loved the Outsiders. They say that it changed their lives and reduced them to tears. This is the first time I've read it, and I have to say that even through these years, it certainly stays gold. I loved the dynamics between Ponyboy and his brothers, in fact, I think it is the best part of this coming-of-age novel. There is such a feeling that conveys the fact that family that is thicker than blood, and a more provocative idea of swimming upwards in a society that often brings people down. Overall, I loved it. Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold.

This is the second time I’ve read The Outsiders, and honestly it was a lot more impactful the second time around. The first time I read this book I was in 7th grade, and it impacted me then, but this time it felt like a punch to the gut.

This book feels so honest in the way that it’s written. S.E. Hinton created complex characters that feel real and raw. Over the course of the book, you begin to care a lot for the boys, and what happens to them. Personally, I think this is one of the most important aspects of writing, so it’s one of my favorite things about this book. Especially because this book is so fast paced, it’s impressive that Hinton makes you care so deeply about the characters in such a short span of pages.

ALSO, since when is Dally blond???? Like hello?? Absolutely not.
