I don’t even know why I read this, but it was sweet. I believe in this kind of faith.
After two of my sisters introduced me to Walker Hayes’ music (“Fancy Like”) and story on our sisters getaway recently, I added some of his songs to my Spotify playlist. Just a few weeks ago, a friend told me he and Craig Cooper (of Hayes’ song “Craig”) published a book about their friendship and how Walker came to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior. I immediately bought a copy for myself as well as copies for those two sisters. I also recommended it for my church library. I laughed and I cried and I looked up more of Walker Hayes’ songs. Everyone needs to read this book.

What a powerful testimony and reminder of how our actions matter and can point people to Jesus. One of my favorite quotes was Walker telling Craig, "I love you low". Craig and Walker did such an awesome job connecting their story to God and how he works in our lives.
A powerful reminder to never stop praying for those around us, so they could get to know Jesus too.

This was such a great book. It was so encouraging to me at a time when I’m so bothered by the distance we have put between each other because of political ideas we tend to idolize in unhealthy ways.
As Craig says in the book, “The fundamental commonalities that mark us as humans are much greater than our differences. They are universal and our remedy is the same — we are all in need of God.”
I bought the book because I’ve been a big fan of Walker Hayes even before “Fancy Like” and I love the song that tells the story of this friendship. But there is so much raw authenticity from both Walker and Craig in this book. There is merch at Walker’s concerts that says “Be a Craig.” But when you read this book and hear of Walker’s transformation, we should be challenging ourselves to “Be a Walker” too.

It’s Non Fiction November and that’s usually not my cup of tea but I’ve loved Walker Hayes for years (before Fancy Like) so I wanted to read his book. I’ve known a lot about his story but I didn’t expect the pain, the rejection, the grief, the loss, the struggle, the love, the redemption, the faith and the power of prayer this book would show. I sobbed, I laughed, it was so so good.
