I loved this book. It was a story in a story in a story, but was not hard to keep track of the story lines as they all folded into each other. I must say, from the very beginning the main character Iris eludes to past events that show Iris in a negative light and the tragic story of her sister, Laura. The entire book explains the background leading up to the events, and even the events themselves, but does not tell you WHY the events happen until the very end. I had two theories of what happened, and I was pleased to be correct on both counts.

At first I thought the sections were divided into boring and not boring and the boring sections were much longer than the not boring sections. But actually that was just the first boring section and after that, they get better. But the end truly did not pay off for me. This woman was hyping up the plot twists too much which were not all that satisfying or even surprising when they came. But still, her writing is very controlled and there were some beautiful lines.
