it was a beautiful story of grief and recovery, and i'm not going to ignore that, but i ended up wishing for more.
i wished they had more time as enemies. i wished julian had time to recover from the death of his lover. i wished deacon had time to understand his sexuality.
i wished so much that i couldn't connect, which ended up taking away from the experience. it left a bitter taste, for sure, but it was still worth it.

Although it was well written, I quickly realized the trope. The description downplays Julien and Deacon’s brother's relationship. It calls them best friends, which they were,but they were also lovers. I don't like these types of tropes. I believe in the code that says we don't go for siblings or best friends' exes—dead or alive. This book has great reviews, so my reason for choosing DNF is just that—my personal preference.
