Well this story was off to a really sad start 😭😭😭 that being said though, when a story starts off in such a sad way, I tend to get high hopes for it, and this story did not disappoint!!

ALL OF THE HURT, HURT, HURT AND MORE HURT! And comfort too, lots of that. But it was so good!!!

I felt so sad for Deacon at the start of this story. His parents are kinda awful to him (his mum mostly, has been for most of his life, by the sound of it), his brother died after battling cancer for years, and his girlfriend cheated on him. All of this happens right at the start of the book, and it was a great way to make me care about Deacon!! Throughout the story, I kept just feeling for him, as it's clear he struggling with a lot of things, and I just wanted to wrap him up in a hug.

And Julian... Poor Julian, who lost his parents young and lived in forster care, who became best friends and then lovers with the boy next door, only to lose him too... I was so sad for him. I can't even imagine the heartbreaks he's gone through before even turning 30! I really felt for him as well, all in all this was just an emotional story all around!

The letter... Omg the letter. It made me cry!!!

The epilogue was absolutely amazing!! I was all giddy and laughing and kicking my feet, it was so cute!!! 🥰

I listened to this on audible, and Teddy Hamilton and Tim Paige did an outstanding job narrating the story!

⭐⭐⭐

The main feeling is ✨meh✨

The characters were sweet and I liked that there were some darker/sad themes running through this book. The story of finding a second love and not having any silly ass conflicts in either love stories was very refreshing.

I had a fondness for both of these characters and enjoyed the story.

However, I finished reading this 7 hours ago and already cannot tell you a single characters name, so take that as you will

This book will live rent free in my heart forever

Recommended to me by an author wifey,m I trust with book recs, this book captured me in chapter one and didn’t let me go. Deacon and Julian are the love story I didn’t know I needed. Marley writes with such deep emotion. I felt every sentence in my bones. Getting this in paperback for my shelf, too. Totally obsessed. This book will be hard to beat in 2025.

Note to self: give this a reread next year!
